Why is there a viewing charge?

In order to view many of the layers on FIND you need to pay a viewing charge, as much of this data incurs royalty payments to the original data providers.

Shopping basket

In the top right hand corner of the map screen is the shopping basket icon. This displays next to a running total of all accepted charges accrued during your FIND session since opening the map screen. To display an itemised list of these charges simply click on the shopping basket icon. You are also given a prompt to view the shopping basket when you log out of your map session.

Accepting the viewing charge

Pop-up panels will appear with a total of the charges you are about to incur when viewing certain map backgrounds and data packages on FIND. You can accept the relevant viewing charge by selecting 'OK'. This first occurs first when you select your initial map background. You are required to enter a 'Project ref' and an optional 'Sub ref', these details will be saved and do not have to be inputted again throughout the remainder of a session. If you wish to change the project reference at any stage click on 'Edit' next to the project information on the right hand side of the top tool bar in the map screen.

The 'Invoices' section of 'My accounts' displays a detailed summary of all costs incurred while using FIND. Invoices are generated on the 1st of each month. 'Project ref' and the optional 'Sub ref' are displayed next to associated charges.
