How to export map data

To export maps and other spatial data, whether it is a map background or layers from within data packages, click 'Export' in Actions bar at the top left of the map area. A pop-up panel will appear offering various tools to create your export area.

There are three drawing tools (rectangle, circle and free-draw) and the arrow tool for moving the export area around the map.

Use the rectangle tool to click and drag a rectangle export area. Click and drag on the white corner handles to alter the rectangle size. If needed, use the advanced options in the pop-up to enter exact size rectangle size and corner co-ordinates.

Use the circle tool to click and drag a circular export area. Click and drag on the white corner handles to alter the circle size. If needed, use the advanced options in the pop-up to enter a radius and centre co-ordinate.

Use the free-draw tool to create a custom area by adding additional nodes (points) as necessary, and double clicking to finish drawing. You can then adjust your area using the advanced tools in the pop-up panel to add/delete nodes, or add a buffer radius.

Once you have used either of the above tools, confirm your export area and prices will display for all exports on the right hand side of the list. Tick boxes next to the maps and spatial data you are interested in and the total cost for all selected exports will display at the bottom of the panel. Confirm costs by selecting 'Continue', rename the export download if you wish then select 'Order now'.

By doing this you are agreeing to the FIND Terms and Conditions. If you rename the export file at this point, please ensure that you add '.zip' to the end of the file name otherwise the file will not open correctly.

Exports can be downloaded from the 'Download' tab located at the top right hand edge of the map background. Click on the green button next to your export within the panel to save the export to your computer. You are also able to download the file from the 'Orders' page of the 'My account' area of FIND for up to four weeks after purchase.

End User Licence Agreements are included within the zip file for each export from the relevant data provider. Be sure to read and agree to these before using the dataset. Most datasets come with a 12 month licence; at the end of the 12 month licence period, you will be sent an email notifying you of any expired data licenses, giving you the option to either renew the data licence, or declare it deleted/archived.

Export pricing

Prices will only display once an export area area has been defined. Use the tools in the Export tab in the Actions bar to create an export area. Confirm your export area to display prices for all available map and data layers. Tick boxes next to maps and data layers to see the total cost (visible in the bottom right-hand side of the export panel).

Downloading previously exported data

If you have already exported map layers and data you are able to re-download them from the 'Orders' page of the 'My account' area of FIND for up to four weeks after purchase. On this page find the downloaded layers you wish to re-download and save to your computer by clicking on the green button to the right hand side of the row. Please note only FIND Intermediate Users and Account Administrator users can view exports of other users from their company account. General users can only view and re-download their own exports.
